The Official Biography

The story of Joshua Joseph and the brand’s evolution.

The Evolution: From Spark to Sovereign We all start as Rebels. In the Caribbean and across the concrete landscapes of America, a "Rebel" is more than a title—it is a spirit. It belongs to the dreamer, the outsider, and the visionary with the audacity to chase a life beyond the borders they were given.

In 2014, Trinidadian American designer Joshua Joseph turned that spirit into a stitch. Born from the vibrant pulse of island tradition and refined in the relentless pace of New York, Rebels to Dons is a sartorial documentation of growth. It is the story of a life in transition, proving that where you start is simply the foundation for who you are destined to become.

The Philosophy: The Tension of Two Worlds

Our design language exists in the beautiful tension between the raw and the refined. We believe fashion should feel like the journey it represents.

  • The Rebel Element:

  • Our root. The energetic, expressive nature of subcultures that defy the norm. We honor this through rare vintage fabrics and distressed textures—refusing the "fast-fashion" cycle in favor of items that possess a soul.

  • The Don Element: Our mastery. The "Doer" who has come of age. The Don moves through the world with a quiet authority, reflected in precision tailoring and sophisticated craftsmanship.

Culture as the Canvas At its core, Rebels to Dons is a dialogue between heritage and the future. From making history as the first Black Caribbean-born designer to create a silhouette for Clarks Originals to seeing our narrative played out on screens for HBO, Netflix, and BET, the mission remains: to honor the community.

Start as a Rebel. Evolve into a Don.

A Note from Joshua

To the Dreamers and the Doers,

I’ve always believed our clothes should tell the truth about where we’ve been. Growing up between the soul of Trinidad and the grit of New York, I saw two worlds that didn't always talk to each other. I started Rebels to Dons because we are all somewhere on the bridge between who we were and who we are becoming. Every stitch is a rejection of the disposable; every design is a tribute to the process of mastery. Thank you for being part of the evolution.

Respect always, Joshua Joseph
